Fitness Fiesta

So this weekend I went to Fitness Fiesta in Camber Sands.  Fitness Fiesta is a wicked fitness event if you aren’t a princess and can put up with Pontin’s accommodation! The nearest station is Rye and it is a short cab ride away.  The event starts on a Friday afternoon and runs through till Sunday lunchtime.  You get all your classes and accommodation in the deal and it is just over £60 so a real bargain.  The best value for money fitness events out there I think. We were working on Fri so went up after work and got there in time to hit the sack early ready to kick off with the first class of the day on Sat. I chose to start my day with the morning run.  This is down the beach and the beach at Camber Sands is a nice one so it is a nice way to start the day, makes a change from all the East London canal running!  It wasn’t a long run about 5k and you can take it at whatever pace you like. I then went and did body combat.  The body combat teachers take it so seriously it is really something when they all come on the stage together for the last couple of rounds.  A good cardio workout and I enjoyed it as I never do body combat as always choose hitting something over air! I then did a body weight conditioning class which was a little slow for me but the instructors have to cater for all levels.  It focused of flexibility as well as strength which is great as if you aren’t flexible you wont be able to increase your strength to your full potential. The last class before lunch was Richard Callender’s who is the head trainer on the Biggest Looser.  I have been to an event Richard runs before and he is really down to earth and works you to your max which is always good.  He ran a circuit class called Armageddon which is made up of body weight exercises working the whole body.  The good thing is you only have to do each exercise once!  It is a good and varied circuit, nothing worse than boring circuit classes you have to go round multiple times.  Richard has an event coming up where you can try this class – check out this link http://www.richardcallender.com/retail/index.html After a quick bite to eat I did cxworx which is new addition to the Les Mills portfolio.  It is a fantastic core workout and the idea is it gets tacked onto the end of bodypump or attack.  It was a really good 30 min deep core workout.  It is defo something I would teach as it really gets your core unlike most ab’s workouts.  Unfortunately I am not a Les Mills kinda gal, I like creating my own class and choosing my own music but defo something to look out for if you are a highstreet gym member. I took another Richard Callender class which was a conditioning class using body weight.  Was a good workout covering all the body making sure you worked out but not so kick us as his earlier circuit class! I did a spin class which was probably one of the most boring spin classes I have ever done!  There was zero variety in it and the music was crap.  Was really disappointed.  I still swear by Vibe Cycle defo the best spinning classes out there http://www.delvinfitness.com/vibecycle/ I have done a 5 hours spin class with Vibe that felt shorted than the hour I did on Sat! I finished the day off with a stretch class.  After 7 classes you defo need a good stretch to try and prevent muscle ache the following day. I only got to do one class on the Sunday a stretch class before I had to head back to London.  Was gutted I missed out on the rest of the classes but I did get to watch my beloved Fulham beat Wolves 5-0 – whoop, whoop!  Needless to say a few celebratory drinks followed that!
