First things first, it’s pronounced “Bow”+“Sue”. Now we’ve cleared that up, we have to high five this piece of kit. Half-ball, half-platform, it really does get our clients giving their all.

What is BOSU?

A BOSU Balance Trainer is an inflated rubber hemisphere attached to a rigid platform, which can be used both sides up. When the dome faces upwards, it provides an unstable surface while the platform is stable on the ground; when you flip it over so the platform faces upwards, the whole device is unstable.

BOSU is challenging, versatile and gets you focused on your core muscles. Here are five more reasons we like to use it to help our clients up their personal training game:

  • BOSU gives you a full body workout or lets you work specifically on your core, lower body or upper body
  • It helps to improve your balance, strength, agility and flexibility 
  • Bored of doing pushups, lunges and squats? BOSU adds an extra challenge and intensity to these common exercises
  • If you use dumbbells, barbells or other free weights at the same time as BOSU, you force your muscles to stabilise and guide the weights through the full motion (don’t be scared, we can help you become a multi-weight expert!)
