Blog: Five foods that will give you Vitamin C

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin that’s found in many foods but particularly in fruits and vegetables. Known for having positive effects on our immune system and skin health Vitamin C is an important part of our diet. To help we’ve given our top five foods to ensure you are getting enough vitamin C.

Oranges

Oranges remind me of summer and are great to enjoy as a snack after a workout. Did you know one medium orange delivers 70 mg of vitamin C? Other citrus fruits such as limes, mandarins and grapefruits are also a good source of vitamin C. Oranges make up a significant portion of dietary vitamin C intake.

Lemons

Did you know lemons contain a high amount of vitamin C along with soluble fibre? Lemons give us numerous health benefits like heart health, weight control and digestive health. A glass of water with lemon is always a good way to start your day.

Strawberries

Strawberries are packed with nutrients and minerals to help feed our bodies. This nutritious fruit will help your heart and brain health. One cup of strawberry halves delivers 89 mg of vitamin C. Strawberries are a great addition to our diet.

Kale

Kale is all the craze and one of the most popular greens you can eat. Most restaurants have a dish that is kale based as its too delicious not to. Packed with vitamins, minerals and fibre kale may be even healthier than spinach. Kale is lower in oxalates which are substances that can bind minerals like calcium in your intestine  preventing them from being absorbed.

Kiwis

Kiwis contain 93 mg of vitamin C per 100 grams. Some of the health benefits of eating enriched vitamin C kiwis  include helping to lower cholesterol, reduce oxidative stress , blood circulation and improve immunity.
